Singapore’s Ministry of Transportation imposed Euro 6 emissions standards for light-duty gasoline and diesel engine vehicles in 2017 and 2018 respectively. A Euro 6 requirement for all heavy-duty diesel engine vehicles has also been in effect since 2018. The Ministry of Transportation also operates a “feebate” program designed to incentive the purchase of low carbon emitting light-duty vehicles. Under the program, taxes are imposed on the purchase of high carbon emitting vehicles. The revenue from these taxes is then used to provide rebates to purchasers of low carbon emitting vehicles.
